Previously, small business owners and organizations have had limited options in running their business. They either needed to perform all of the work themselves, i.e. Marketing, Billing, Office Support, and so on or they needed to hire an in-house employee with the required skill sets.

As technology has evolved, outsourcing has become more prevalent. Thus Entrepreneurs have ventured out and created small businesses for the purpose of serving and assisting with the business support and technical needs of other small businesses and organizations.

In this arrangement, a small business owner or organization that requires business support or technical assistance partners with another company to provide that support. This allows them to tap into a deeper pool of talent than hiring an in-house employee whose skill set may be limited to certain functions i.e. secretarial duties, website design, marketing, and so on. By outsourcing, businesses and organizations have many resources at their disposal that they may not ordinarily have, thus giving them the ability to save time and money.

To work effectively with a company that provides business support services, you must first complete an evaluation of your business. What is it that causes you to be a time waster? Is it social media? Do you attempt to make your posts and get consumed? Or is it something else?

Secondly, you must be honest with what you should and should not be doing in your business. If you are skilled at looking at the big picture and not customer service then you should you should be focusing on the big picture. Leave the customer service to someone who is more qualified.

Third, you need to have an idea of where you are headed with your business. Where would you like to see yourself in a year or even five? You need people to help get you there as you cannot do it all by yourself.

Fourth, you need to be open-minded. Business owners are under a misconception that they need in-house employees to make progress. However, in a lot of cases, using in-house employees is a wasted expense. Much more is accomplished when a person is focused on a task rather than fulfilling their time at the office.

Fifth, you need to work with go-getters to accomplish your goals. People who can think outside of the box and take initiative, not people who wait to be handed a task.

Sixth, you need to be able to delegate and not micro-manage. This is the reason that you need a business support team in the first place; to allow you to focus on your strengths.

And lastly, you need trust. You need to be able to let your partner company handle the tasks that you have contracted them to handle. Once you learn to trust you will see greater growth in your business as your support team goes above and beyond your greatest expectations.

If you have not partnered with a business support team in the past, we’d be happy to speak with you regarding your business and the goals that you have set forth. Please feel free to contact us.
